Chakras and Us

Chakras and their role within our bodies is something I didn’t learn about until I was just entered into my adulthood.

The role of how our energy flows within our bodies and how important it was for our physical, emotional and mental well-being was not a concept I had grown up with.

I had a black and white meaning of health and it didn’t involve my body’s organs, nerves or energy.  It honestly was more of what my doctor could tell me about how I felt, and looking within wasn’t exactly on his recommendation list.

7 Chakras and How The Wheels Spin

We have energy centers within our body. Actually, we have seven main chakras that run along our spine. There are some that believe you have at least 114 types of chakras in the body.

We’re going to stick to the seven most referred for today.

In Sanskrit, the word “chakra” means wheel, and just like a wheel it needs to be able to move to make a complete circle and function optimally.

Take that wheel concept and use it for our own body analogy, that flow and movement within our bodies is needed in order for us to function at our best. Each chakra is associated with a specific colour and to a specific area that impacts our lives.

We need our chakras to stay open or balanced, and if any of our energy centers are blocked it affects us emotionally and physically.

How to Balance Your Chakras

There are many ways to help balance your chakras. Here is a list of a few ways..

  • Yoga

  • Meditation

  • Sound healing

  • Reiki

  • Breathing practices

  • Being out in nature

  • Crystals

  • Eating the colours of the rainbow

If your chakras are out of balance, it may affect the parts of your body that are close to the chakra that is blocked. This can include your bones, joints, organs and tissues near that area – also an imbalance in the chakras can cause emotional imbalance.

I’ve been practicing reiki for almost a year, and when I see clients we always relate back to where the body was blocked and how that connects to their outer world. One chakra out of balance  can cause others to follow suit, but we can heal ourselves.
